Onyx Artist is an entertainment agency run by musicians, who met during our time attending Berklee College of Music in Boston. After playing in some of the biggest weddings bands in the Northeast, we felt there was a need for something different in the private event industry. 

 

Coming out of Berklee - the largest network of music professionals in the world, there were so many talented musicians around us, (literally every member of our first New York band was also touring with a different Grammy winning artist) but it felt like every agency we worked for was having us play the same tired repertoire, and were also taking up to 80% cut of what clients were paying, which felt unfair to both the clients and the artists.

 

After moving to New York in 2011, we slowly and naturally formed Onyx Artists, led by the desire to bring genuine and authentic musical experiences to people's events, weddings, and everyday lives.

 

Passionate about many different styles of music, and surrounded by diverse networks each steeped in their own styles, it became obvious that there was a bridge to build between people and planners looking for music, and the access we had to young full-time professional musicians - not "weekend warriors".

 

Between all our bands and understudies for each instrument (to help ensure availability), we are very proud to employ as many as 100 musicians every year, and have played over 400 weddings and events!
